Thread: Heading sensor placement and 360

I would still consider installing the GPS-HS at the transom like Rickie stated (Option 1). This will enable you to more accurately mark waypoints and maneuver back to them later on. Since you will be fishing mostly from the other end of the boat than the 360 you will want to know what direction the boat is pointing versus what the 360 is showing. Without the heading sensor in the GPS-HS the unit and 360 have no way of knowing what direction is what unless you are moving (then it uses the regular GPS for this).

Like Greg said, if your going to mark waypoints from the 360, you need to have the gps/heading sensor as close to the 360 as possible for the most accurate waypoints possible.
I have not hooked up my gps/heading sensor to the my 360 since I've got the onix.i use my 360 to return to known waypoints and I fish ledges, we're I just view stumps and watch were the drops are at.theres times that I will see new brush piles on the 360, while returning to known waypiont,but I don't mark them.ill just turn my boat and follow the 360 to them.once I'm over them, I'll fish'em then mark'em an move on.

I also made a purchase from Brian at BBG just the other day.im very pleased with his help and response time along with a very good price.

Short grub, before you mount your gps/heading sensors permanently. Check to make sure that there's no magnetic interference close by.
