    Default Lowrance HDS Question

I have a HDS 7 and the other day it would show the depth then straight line. Then the depth would come back and blank again for about 10sec. Has anybody had this problem and knows how to correct it. Thanks for your help.

the newer electronics are power/voltage sensitive so check all of the connections, and the battery, it may be going bad. Did it do it when you were cranking the OB, or other events??
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Where is your transducer mounted.... Transom, Bilge or Trolling motor ? If it is in the bilge, the seal could be coming loose.

Do you have another unit that you can test the transducer with that uses the blue connector ?

Make sure you're connections are CLEAN and tight.

Agreed. Also check the entire transducer cable for any kinks or cuts. It sounds like everything is working ok other than the transducer or connections.

Hey Justinp61 and Crappie Reaper thanks for your help. I will take care of that today. That was the weirdest thing, one day it did it and the next day acted fine. Thanks again.

You may want to clean the surface of the transducer.

If there is something on it that interferes with the contact with the water, (like oil etc.), it could give you the same signal as you get in the driveway.

Make sure your all cable connectors are screwed all the way down on the head unit. If not, strange things will happen.

Thanks Drifty4 I'm going to wipe with a wet towel or should I use windex to cut the grease?
Thanks Cane Pole I thought about that so this last time I checked twice and I'm wondering if that was it.
