    Default HB hours

I wonder what the average life hours of a unit may be and also, what could cause the hours to reset? I have a little 570DI that has 807 hours on it, while I have a 798 that is registering 54. There should be at least half as many hours on the 798 as my 570.

    Input?

Was it ever sent back to factory for repair?

Although it needs to, it has never been sent off. Even the most recent update was a couple years
    ago.

Software updates are not supposed to alter the unit hours in any way...

I have no idea why your unit is not showing the hours you think it should have...

    Maybe Greg knows ...

Sounds like a possible problem with one of the memory devices inside. Does the unit save the menu changes you make?

    In short.....sometimes.

I cannot save waypoints/screenshots. Every now and then, I will turn the unit on and it is set back to factory default. I about flipped out the first time, it said I was running in 1'....but I was in meters.

Check the electrical power to the unit as low power can cause some very strange problems sometimes. Other than that you may want to look at sending it into the Humminbird Service Techs.
