Default Old School electronics--Lowrance x510C issue

I have a 788DI and 898 on my boat but I still rely heavily on a Lowrance x510C color fishfinder on my console when trolling cranks or longlining. A couple of years ago it would stop working for a few minutes when the ambient temperature was hot. It would be working fine then act like the power was turned off. After a period as long as an hour it would power right back up and work fine. Occasionally it would quit more than once on a long fishing day.

Yesterday I was out for a while and the ambient temp was in the mid 70s. The 510 powered up fine then stopped shortly after. I tried to power it up every few minutes and just decided it had met its maker. Before I started back to the ramp about 2 hours later, I tried it and it started up like a brand new unit. I know how aggravating gremlin electronic problems can be. I was just about to the point of hoping it was dead and I would need to try to find a replacement for it.

Anybody have any idea what might be going on? When this all started, I actually got under the console and rewired all my electronics power circuits so I don't think it is losing power from the panel. I was wishing I had a volt/ohm meter in the boat so I could check the power input.

Anybody got one laying around that still works good and would consider selling? I only need the head unit.

It's probably something on the circuit board inside unit. Watch BassBoat Central on their electronics board. Always older units for sale. Probably find a good deal over there. I would though get a meter and check voltage and also check pins where cable plugs in for corrosion. If it looks ok put a tiny bit of dielectric grease on connectors.

I have an LCX27 I might work something out with you. It ain't for sale, but we might can do some trade dickering if you can wait till the shindig. The unit is in excellent condition. It will mate up to your existing stuff plus it is gps capable with an antenna. I have the mounting bracket for it. I also have the original box and user manual. I am a dust collector. ha

Thanks Tom. If I can't get things worked out with this unit, I'll get you to bring yours up to the shindig.
