    Default Which one

    BBG Marine Electronics

    For $669. Or

    BBG Marine Electronics

    For $899.

I have an 71 ouachita tri hull stick steer without trim or jack plate. I would only use si to scan at slow speeds so trolling motor down while idling would be fine. I have been with a hummer guy and low guy and their units are the best. I want si to find structure and have great di to see it and fish better. Way points and routes would be wanted as well. So which way should I lean?

This is the reason for the post. Where would I put the transducers. So which unit would be best with transducer locations on my tri hull.

The side scan on a 5" screen is going to be hard to read. For $210 more I'd go with this BBG Marine Electronics. If you are limited to the two options you posted then I'd go with the HDS-5.

I would call Brian and get a price on a 899 humminbird before buying either of those units. Or look for a used unit if you are stuck on a budget. SI is harder to see on a 5 inch screen. You within 100 at retail of the 899 and Brian gives members a discount.

I also noticed he had the 998 for less than 1200 this is an awesome value.

Justin is correct, si is best on the bigger screens.hold out a little longer and save the extra bucks and get a bigger unit.i think you'd be happier in the long run

Okay. Made my decision for 899. My concern was the transducers. But Brian set me straight on what application I was looking for. I know for sure that this is a huge upgrade on what I do have!

    Thank you all.
