    Default Need help. Lowrance Questions.

There are so many different units and cleaning out some old offshore stuff so got a few coins to upgrade to down image on the front of the boat.

Had a Elite 5 with just the gps and fish finder on the trolling motor, going to be selling that and move to a all sonar unit.

I won't ever be fishing in more than 40 foot of water using the trolling motor so here is my question.

    Lowrance Elite 5chirp, Elite x5..
I've heard Hummingbird has a better down image. What are you guys thoughts on the 596?

They explained the Chirp and the guy at Lowrance said it would give me better detail but he could not answer me on the if it would make that much difference in the 40 foot or less water.

Do I need this Chirp and if any of you are vendors please PM me a price to Elizabeth City NC 27909 delivered.
Only thing I didn't sell today on THT was the Elite 5 gps/sonar that is on the boat now but its early. LOL I'm sure it will sell by the weekend so I'm ready to buy.
    Thanks for the help.

If it were me, I'd buy a HDS 7 Touch with no transducer and a HDI transducer. This will give you 2D/DI and a good GPS. Generally speaking HB has more range on their side imaging and Lowrance has better down imaging.

Call Brian at BBG Marine, he won't steer you wrong.

I am not familiar with this transducer. Will it work with HDS Gen1 and have 2d and di?

Been on the phone with Brian, Lowrance and several more. I ended up going with the 5x Chirp. I have the 7 with gps and down image on the dash and just wanted a down image on the front. Brian didn't have the 5x chirp but he did have the 7x Chirp but decided to stick with the 5... It has zoom and the Chirp sounds like its clearer picture .
I'm like brettw. Been out of work almost three weeks waiting on the master minds at Peterbilt to just DECIDE what they are going to do about a transmission under warranty so kept that other couple of hundred for gas money. LOL
Thanks for the help guys. See ya on the water.

If it was only that easy. Not their decision. They have to go back through trans manufacturer and anyone else who has a interest in paying the bill. Delt with that for 32 years last ten at KW.
