    Default Which Chip To Get?

Hey guys. I got my first boat last night and it came with a Hummingbird 597 ci HD with down imaging. I was told there are chips to load into them for the lake layouts. I did a search on them and see that there are tons to choose from. Can anyone recommend me a good chip to buy for it new or used. I will be fishing primarily in Missouri and Kansas; Truman, LOZ, Clinton, Hillsdale, Stockton, etc. May take an occasional trip north to Minnesotta where I have family and grew up fishing for walleye, but if a seperate chip is needed for up north thats fine, I'll buy it later. Thanks for any and all help, it's appreciated.

You can check your lakes here...

    http://www.navionics.com/en/document...nics-lake-list

    http://www.lakemap.com/Find-a-Lake/#.U43LKu69LYV

The LakeMaster card will have a few extra features that the Navionics doesn't...simply because Johnson Outdoors owns both HB and Lakemaster ....

Thank you for the reply. I'll probably go with lake master for my chip.

I am in the same boat you are right now wilkinkc. One of the chips that has been recommended to myself by many friends is the chips that are made by Jack Baker. The company name that actually sales them I believe is Great Plains mapping. http://www.greatplainsmapping.com/ here is the website, give them a look over and see what you think. I believe that they offer a select few lakes in MO...can't remember without looking though. Best of luck to you!

I believe only Lakemaster and Navionics maps work in Humminbird units.

Wish they made maps for my area, they have the best detailed maps that I've seen.

If you have a Humminbird unit you can make your own custom maps for use in your unit using the AutoChart or AutoChart Pro program.

Make sure whatever chip you purchase to do your research first to verify they have your lake. I have two Humminbirds and the Lakemaster does not have any of the three lake on it I fish in Oklahoma (Wes Watkins, Broken Bow, and Bell Cow). Navionics only has Broken Bow, and the base maps in the Humminbirds do not Wes Watkins or Bell Cow. I was just looking at the Lowrance units today and they did have all three lakes on their base units.
