    Default Lowrance update problem

    Hi,
I've downloaded the new Lowrance update for the Touch units, but I can't open the file as instructed on the Lowrance update page.
It specifically instructs not to simply copy the folder, but rather, open the folder and copy all the files to the SD card
    Installation Instructions

Unzip or extract the files from the downloaded folder. Copy all file(s) into the route directory of a blank SD card, make sure you are not copying the folder, only the individual file(s) must be copied. Insert the card into the display and switch on, the upgrade should start automatically

Computer says Windows can't open the file and offers to search for an extension that will do it but i'm having no luck with it.

    thanks for your help,

Brett, Did you "Extract" or "unzip" the file? Windows will extract the file

The only thing you should open is the folder the files are in. Once the folder is open then drag and drop or copy and paste the files in your card.

And note that the use of 'route' is incorrect on those download page instructions (same thing is on the non-touch HDS update page)

Should be 'root' (or top-most directory on the card).

Don't go looking for some directory named 'route' on the card. I've notified them already telling them they should correct that wording to make it more clear.

The file you get in the download is a zip file, and it has to be unzipped to see the files that it contains.

The only file you need to copy to the chip, is the one with the .UPD extension on the file name. It should be the only file on the chip. At least that is the way I do mine and it worked just fine.

The Lowrance site says to copy all the files to a blank chip. I think the blank chip is the main thing they want to get across.
