    I am about to purchase a Terrova 55# motor and was wondering if the Ipilot can be can be added later or if it must be purchased as a total package.

    According to the Minn Kota FAQs:
    Can I add i-Pilot to my Minn Kota trolling motor?
    If your motor is a Terrova, PowerDrive V2, Riptide ST or Riptide SP model, it is compatible with the i-Pilot system. Unfortunately, PowerDrive models produced before 2007 are not compatible.

    It will probably cost you a little more to do it that way ..... There are some rebates on the Terrova with I-pilot right now.
