The Touch units have the side scan built into them. No need for an LSS2 unit. He will however need to purchase the transducer for the sidescan. Depending on what bundle he got, he may have all he needs.

Enjoy it Zummy! I'm picking a 9T up today.

The hds 9 touch is only 1k more and comes with high voltage probes (optional) that deploy into the water if you fish the same brush pile for 10 min.

I'm so new to these units that I called Brian at BBG. He advised me that since I want to run just one unit- and at the bow- I should forego the LLS2 transducer and get the TM ducer. This way I can see if it fulfills my needs at a substantial savings. If I need the LLS2 at a later time I can buy it for about $250 and mount it anywhere I want other than the TM. All of what he recommended is headed my way for around $976.

If you plan on upgrading to the new lowrance touch units. Id say Save your self the hassle and just buy the bundle package. For fresh water hds7 touch with the 83/200 transducer and with LSS2 structure scan.
