The transducer must have consistent movement to create the images you see on the screen. There is a misconception that Spotlight Scan will look the same as Humminbirds's 360 but without pedal movement, you will lose your imaging on the screen.

Okie Bob, I'm sure after some time on the water with the Spotlight scan, you will get the system dialed in and the images will improve for you.

I'm guessing that was the thinking of Lowrance, right or wrong.
I do wish they'd be more open in their advertising and honest about what you have to do to make this thing work. And, spend some money on educating us, their customers on exactly how this technology actually works.
Hopping down from my soapbox now, get me started and I'd be here all day!
The bow 360 is $999 MSRP.....It can probably be found cheaper.

The one thing Lowrance does not actually show, in all their advertising, is the actual images their Spotlight produces.
Sure, we see the Spotlight highlighting a nice bass, but on the screen, what does that look like?
Dark background (water) with a solo arch out 30' ?
A white background blob with a bass hidden there somewhere?
Show the customers what we should see, or a quality manufacturers enhanced version of it.

I pretty much got what I needed to know when every ad or video on it just talked about how great it was and NEVER showed a single image. I think the back & forth will be the final deal killer on it. I know guys will buy it but I bet they hit the resale forums before too long.

Sadly, I fear you may be correct.
A response to the (also confusing, at least to me) HB 360,
    Show me the brush,
    Show me the fish,

I'd think a regular SS ducer, mounted sideways and screen set left for fwd or right for backwards would be better. Question would be how to hook it up if you only have one unit. Splitter for ducers?

Left, right? I think the screen will only show rt to lft. Or bottom to top.
But I'm about ready to stick my LSS2 ducer on a pole, slowly rotate it on a known brush pile, see what it reveals.

Brettw,i have my 798 on a pole, tried it on di and si,can make out the brush and the fish if its many fish,i mainly use it to locate exactly where the brush is or the fish,if i did not know that there was brush near me ,i probably would not know it was brush, but it does help some in determine where to throw jig without getting on top of it,and a couple of times when the fish move to another spot on the brush,i could still find them ,they look like white smeared paint in a dark spot

Thanks, doesn't sound too promising but worth a try.
