    Default Broken transducers

I have a 798 Humminbird and have broken a couple of mounts and transducers. I just broke another mount that was my fault dragging into a backwater lake but this is getting expensive. Will it hurt to use the unit for GPS purposes with the transducer out of the water? I'm going to build a mount that can easily be raised up out of the water when I am in a area that I think there is a chance of hanging it on something. If I can't I suppose I will just turn it off when it is raised up.

Yes, it will run fine that way. There are. Many companies making a pole mount for transducers now.
