I agree with Bob that SI is very beneficial...if you can swing it into the budget...

I would at least try to step in to the DI technology...

Both brands now make units that have both 2d and DI...

I feel both 2d and DI side by side are very beneficial by having the 2d to help verify what one is seeing in the DI ...and vice a versa...

OK, after pondering what has been suggested, I'm leaning toward the HB 698 w/si. If I go with this, what will I be sacrificing with it's use of only one card slot. I'm trying to be careful as I found out over the weekend that my "new to me boat" has some issues that I didn't catch at the time I bought it. Of course, the seller did not mention these. Like many have found, the budget is often surpassed when we play with toys. Anyone have a need for an older high grade Beretta sporting clays gun??? Another question...my tm is an older MK Powerdrive w/copilot. It appears that the foot pedal is defective. How much of a pain will it be to just operate with the remote? All I've used in the past is a cable drive. I found a replacement pedal on ebay for a reasonable amount, but w/out testing this one I can't be sure if it is actually the pedal or an internal connection. Rather than me trying to figure out how to test it, can anyone tell me how?

With only the one memory card slot you will not be able to use a mapping card and make a Screen Snapshot (or Sonar Recording) at the same time.

if you do go with si get the biggest screen that you can afford, the bigger the screen the easier it is to pick things out on. A good unit with the lastest features will last you years for what you want to do with it,so spend a little more and get a little better one youwont regret it.

798 or 799 would be my minimal range.
