There is a way to tell which side the structure is on with 2d and that is to tilt the ducer a little toward front and turn your tm in different direction while watching the direction and looking at depth finder as object leaves and comes back into pic,i did that for years when i use to winter bass fish to follow shads,now i just a few days ago fix my transducer where it will tilt with other foot while turning tm to see where brush piles was at,it is a 798, but ofcoarse si will tell by turning tm but not as good as 2d
