I like the ideal and may try one out. Getting blind sucks.

Mr. McGoo says...."guess I will have to be the guinea pig and try this first". Also notice it blocks UV radiation, which begs the question..... will long exposure to direct sunlight deteriorate a depthfinder screen over time??

My luck, It would magnify the sunlight perfectly and burn a hole in my fish finder!

That is a possibility or at least it could over-heat the display in a localized area. There is no telling how many ants I burned up as a young’un using a magnifying glass in the hot sun! Not an expert here but I know that UV rays will deteriorate just about everything given enough time and intensity. That has some UV protection but no mention was made about a IR filter (infrared, the part of sunlight that causes things to heat up!) which could lead to a heat related failure.
