Do they hold up good. How much would you pay for a used one with 262 hrs. Anything to watch out for and does that model still have the same sonar features as a new si unit. Has a short warranty still

Is that the 898c SI Combo (CCFL backlight screen) or the 898c HD SI Combo (LED backlight screen)..?? ...HD in the model name indicates LED backlighting for the 800 and 900 series HB units...

LED backlight would be worth a little more simply for the more desired LED backlit screen...

262 hours is still very low hours for any used unit...

Price...I'll let others recommend what they think is reasonable...

HB warranty does NOT transfer...it is only for the original purchaser (with the original receipt)...

HB units can be registered under a new owner which allows the new owner to receive available updates for the specific unit...

Differences in 898 series and the 2014 model 899ci HD SI Combo..

899ci HD SI Combo has...:

*faster processor
*internal GPS antenna
*comes with "Compact SI" xducer (455kHz SI)...but can be upgraded to the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T xducer (455kHz and 800kHz SI)...
*requires AS EC QDE Ethernet adapter cable..."IF" the unit is to be networked

The "c" indicates color screen...both the 898c SI Combo and the 898c HD SI Combo have color screen...

Does the model name include "HD" in the name...(as in 898c HD SI Combo)...??

I would think $700 is still a good price...with that low of hours...whichever one it is...

Sounds like a fair price. But it's all in what you feel comfortbale paying.
It's a good unit and if you don't already have a sidescan, you'll really like the unit.

Is 997 a better unit

I think 998 is a little better unit other than size from what I read on them. You can get one of the new old model 998 hd si on e-bay for around 1200 or maybe a little less if you watch. Or the new 899 with bright screen is 1000. I'd pay the extra 300 just for the brighter screen but you also will get a 2 year warranty with a new unit I believe. You may be able to talk one of the dealer's down a bit also, my buddy got a new 899 hd si priced to him for 850. Honestly sounds a bit high to me the way the price has been coming down on these lately. When I bought my 998 hd si last fall Cabelas and Bass Pro was selling them for 2000. I got mine for 1600 and thought it was a great price, now they are down to around 1200 on ebay.
