Default Do I want DI or SI?

I need to put new electronics on my boat and I am wanting to buy one good unit to put at the console of my boat. I would mount it on some type of rotating mount so that I could view it from the front of the boat also. I bass fish, as well as crappie, but most of the waters here in Arkansas are relatively shallow with the exception of maybe Ouachita or Tenkiller in Oklahome. Should I go with DI or SI? I am thinking something along the lines of the Lowrance Elite 7 with DI and GPS of the Humminbird 859 DI with GPS. What do you guys suggest?

Check with Brian at BBGMarine a sponsor on here. Check for a deal on 898,998, or 858. Some really good deals out ther on units being replaced with newer styles. 898,998 are DI-SI and 858 is DI only. All with GPS. Get just DI and then you'll want the SI.

If you are fishing shallow quite a bit you will want a good SI unit. The Humminbird units have great SI in shallow water.

I got the DI then up graded to SI. I love the split screen that shows SI, DI and regular sonar all at one time.

I have DI now at the console and 2d at the bow, going to SI after the first of the year. Finding brim beds is more what I am after, want to see them golf ball dimples on my screen!!!!

DI shows picture-like images of structure under the boat and out to sides a dozen feet or so...

SI shows picture-like images of structure under the boat, out to the sides 100+ feet, AND which side of the boat...
