    Default quick setup

I am trying to make my new fish finder portable instead of mounting it. I am using a smaller battery for dedicated power and want to put a cigarette plug on the fish finder and plug it into a 12 volt socket. I should also say this is to be used on the bow. Does anyone see any problems with this idea? If someone has made one I would like to see it. Any help would be great.

Don't see any problems with the concept, just get a waterproof or resistant 12v plug set up. I've got a 12v outlet at the console and bow on my tracker, both have covers, not totally waterproof, but better than nothing. I've plugged a HH gps unit in these before without issue.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

It will end up in the lake if you aren't careful. I've about lost a mounted one off the front when running.

Hit the nail on the head once again Cane. I have this done on my rig but the cigarette plug in has to stay dry or else you will have trouble. My suggestion would be wire the boat power cord hard and have a seperate one for being portable. Had trouble with mine on tourney day.

Get a cable similar to this one. It is a end to end, but cut it, and you have mating cables. Splice in fuse (blade waterproof with 3A fuse). You be set! These are the ones I use, Just use some connector grease on the connectors so they don freeze up or corrode. Solves connection problem.

You can get these at some auto stores such as car quest.

I use the CIG plug so when scouting at winter pool can just plug it in to the truck, wouldn't be hard to attach that to a CIG plug, great idea Cane
