    Default I Pilot noise

I have an I Pilot that makes a noticeable noise on settings of 3 and above. When I was installing it on my boat I noticed a lot of play when bolting on the prop. The prop shaft had about a 1/4" play in and out. Is the noise normal, how about the play in the prop shaft?

Wouldn't think so! I have 2 PD 's and props pretty soild ! Had to send a Kipawa prop back that would make noise above # 2...it was out of round. I assume you have the key way pin in the groove of the prop....does the shaft itself move or the prop? New unit? Defect or has wrong prop with it....

Definitely not normal. Are you saying that with the prop off you can move the shaft in and out, or the prop moves in and out on the shaft?

You are correct, with the prop off the shaft will move in and out. The prop as installed correctly with the drive pin in the slot.

It has to have some play in it due to thermal expansion or something like that. I forget.

Take the prop of and try it, don't let it run too long, cause the water cools it.
