Will a Lowrance Elite-7 HDI work with my Terrova US2? Thanks!

No, your unit has Down Imaging and your US2 in motor only works for 2D. Hooking you unit to it wold probably kill it. You can get a bracket to mount your transducer to out side of motor that will work fine.

Ok, got you. I have not ordered the unit yet, was just looking. So what is the main difference between the Elite-7 and say a HDS-7 because there's a huge price difference??? Thanks!

HDS is compatible with the lowrance structure scan module is the biggest thing. Along with a ton of other features. Its like comparing a 597di with the big 898 and up hummingbird units.

Probably would never have any need for the structure scan although I know that it's pretty neat stuff...I mainly longline for crappie and would just like a bigger screen and a nice HD image(currently running a Lowrance 522 on the bow)....Any other suggestions in that price range for what I'm looking for?? The Elite-7 looks like a good unit and have heard pretty good reviews so far...Thanks!

If you are not looking specifically for the structure scan unit or side imaging the Elite-7 is hard to beat for the price. It is a full 7" screen where the HDS-7 is 6.4" screen. The elite-7 gives you GPS, 2D sonar and Down Imaging all in one transducer. I have sold a lot of these units and had very little complaints. The one consistent complaint I have had is when using a mapping card. If you zoom in too far the unit cannot keep up when you are running down the lake. They don't have the fastest processor. If you keep it simple with something along the lines of a Lowrance Lake Insight Pro chip or a Navionics Hot Maps Premium chip it does great. Trying to run a Hot Maps Platinum card is too much information for it to keep up. The Elite-7 unit can be networked to a HDS unit but it has to be done with NMEA 2000 network instead of Ethernet cable.

Thanks a lot for the info!!! I will be using a Hot maps Premium chip in it so that's good news. I will also be networking it to a 522c iGPS and I already have the NMEA 2000 installed so that will work also. Very good to hear how well these units work! I slow troll/long line so I really didn't think I needed the structure scan that much. I just wanted an upgrade from the 520/522's that I've been running. Just got my unit today from Brian at BBG marine and just need to get it installed. Will have to mount the ducer to the TM but that shouldn't be too big of a deal. Thanks again!
