    Default Lowrance lss question

Could someone please tell me the the difference between an LSS1 and LSS2? Is there a significant difference between them? If so please post some pics that show the difference. Thanks in advance for any help.

The LSS 2 is supposed have more range on the SS. I have both and don't notice any difference, if I didn't have one I wouldn't hesitate to buy a 1.

The majority of shallow water fisherman prefer the lss 1 hands down.

Do you mean HDS touch? The Structure Scan (1 or 2) will only work with HDS units, gen 1,2 or touch. The general consensus is that the LSS 1 gives better images on 800khz, mostly used for down scan and the LSS 2 has better images and range on 455khz when used for side scan.

I have both and on gen 1 HDS units can't tell the difference and I haven't had the 12T out but one time, all I did was play with settings and try to familiarize myself with it.

Lowrance recommends and sells an adapter cable that will connect a LSS 1 transducer to a Touch unit. That being said I don't know what it does as the LSS 1 transducer will plug into the Touch anyway and I have seen some very good images with no adapter cable. Some say the adapter will yield better images, but so far I haven't seen any evidence of this in posted images.

If I had a LSS 1 I wouldn't sell it to buy a LSS 2. Your mileage may vary though.

LSS1 will work on Gen 1 HDS as that's what was issued with the Gen 1's, and pretty sure they work with Gen 2 HDS. Touch models are too new for me. LOL I have a Gen 1HDS 8 w/ SS using the LSS1.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

LSS2 seems best at 455 both side and down

I have a Gen 1 / Lss1 on the front of my boat and Gen 2 / Lss2 on the back. The Gen 2/Lss2 on the back is much clearer on down scan and sidescan in both 455 & 800. I am guessing around 30 % better. Can't wait to get the 2 on the front. Might have to pic Ricky's head on getting the larger puck on the trolling motor. Hope you have a good thermos and some time Ricky!! See you at the shindig.
