This will probably be a little out there for most but its worth a shot as I got confused.
I just bought two new HB 587 ci HD di units. I am wanting to be able to use them this winter with an ice ducer that will let me use both 2d sonar and the built in flasher. My question is that I already have a HB ice35. Can I use the transducer from the ice35 on the 587 and still retain regular chart 2d sonar?

No. The ice ducer for your Humminbird ICE 35 flasher iis not compatible with the 500-series sonar/GPS combos.
Sorry guys was out on Friday (off to the doctor again…).
Both Rickie and Jason are right: the Ice Transducer for your ICE 35 will not work as it operates at a different set of frequencies than does your 587ci HD DI units. Right now your 587ci HD DI units are not compatible with any of the Ice Ducers that we sell.
Why not just use the regular transducer for ice fishing. Prior to the ice ducer concept I had to rig many an old flasher and LCD type depthfinders to use for ice fishing. The ice ducer is a great idea in that it ensures a level floatation of transducer. That makes for an ideal and easy set up.
I recently converted an old Matrix 97 which is compatible with the the new Lakemaster chip. I lucked out that the ice ducer worked in that case. A little ingenuity should prove to make your units usable or ice fishing.
My very first conversion was an old Humminbird 30 flasher which worked great for these shallow lakes here in northeast Ohio. My ice fishing buds then wanted one of their own. Trying to work with that offset rectangular ducer was a unholy challenge but finally figured a workable solution.
