I have a foot feed trolling motor. I have been using one for over 30 years and I can operate it good(at least in my eye sight). I don't spider rig, long line, troll, or pull cranks. I cast, vertical jig, and shoot docks, I like the speed of changing directions , especially when fishing in the wind and around boat docks. Could be wrong(express your feelings), but I don't feel that I could get this from an electronic controlled TM. I feel it would turn to slow. Am I off base...... It won't be the first time or the last time.... crappie1133

They do take some getting use to but my old legs sure likes the electric steering.

I wouldn't change a thing if the cable steer is working for you. I have a Terrova and it is great, but in a few situations I sometimes wish for a cable steer.

I fished with a friend who has electric this past spring...
Everytime he got up from the TM ...I would operate the TM to try to keep the boat in the "zone"...(1st time for me using an electric)...
Biggest difference I noticed in operating an electric is I had to physically look at the TM indicator arrow before pressing the power button every time to know which way to adjust the boat...
I don't have to look at my cable steer to know which way to adjust my boat ...I can "feel" which way to adjust the TM for proper boat placement..
I'll stay with my cable steer...
(Although I definitely see an advantage of an electric steer in pulling cranks or other faster type trolling...)

Thanks to everyone for your comments. Ricky ,that's exactly what I feel. I can steer by feeling and not have to always look at the direction arrow. Thanks again to everyone for your comments
Stay with the cable steer as long as you can or want, I also have a Terrova with IP and the only time I would prefer a cable steer is shootingdocks, but I longline 90% of the time, and its better than sliced bread at any type of trolling. jmo.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
