Took it to the repair center. Showed the above video to the repairman. He's leaning towards a bad magnet. We shall see.
Turns out somewhere in it's journey to me the motor had pieces of the magnet break off and that was the cause of all the noise.
Good to hear you have a fix. I wish I could hear stuff better. Brenda tells me I am full of crap all the time. Wonder if this causes hearing blockage?

I'm just mad at myself. Had the motor since Dec 1st or so but since I was redoing the boat it sat in the box till mid April before it was mounted and even then I didn't have any prior Minn Kota expieriance when I powered it up in the garage to let me know that the noises it made weren't correct. It wasnt till it went in the water the first time that I thought that it had something wrong.
my trolling motor started making this noise today not quite as bad as yours
The motor at the prop is fairly quiet but still not as quiet as the 20 year old Motorguide it replaced. It's newest thing is at any time the motor makes steering adjustments, such as when on autopilot, it squeaks loudly where there shaft goes through the steering box. Going to try some silicone spray and see if that helps. I might give MinnKota a call but it'll be hell or high water before I lose two weeks fishing while I wait on the ARS to get around to it, at least till the end of the season.
