    Default Help needed on deciding on fishfinder


    I am looking into buying a new fish finder for my boat. I have been especially looking at Humminbirds from bass pro shops and cabelas. I dont really want to pay to much..... Any help would be awesome!!

    Knowing (and finding your interest in) the different sonar unit technologies available is a good starting place....

    GPS will allow marking points of interest and allow returning to those points...
    2d sonar will show stuff under the boat...in a "cartoon" like image..
    DI sonar will show stuff under the boat, and out to the sides a few feet...in a "picture" like image..
    SI sonar will show stuff under the boat, out to the sides 100+ feet, and which side of the boat...in a "picture" like image ....

    Decide on your interest in these available technologies and then decide on a workable budget to encompass your sonar interest of the available technologies...
