    Default Playing on the water


    Went to the lake today trying out new Elite 7 HDI. I had more problems with GPS than sonar.Having problems with trails and routs and the differences. I am trying to read the manual and learn how to get benefit from GPS. Lost depth today, cut off unit and back on and had no more problem. Did i have a setting off ?. I am amazed at what this thing will do (WAY MORE THAN I HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE TO MAKE IT DO). Other than the manual is there any good web sites to help explain GPS. I am not going to give up!!!!! Thanks

    Track is a bread crumb trail of where you have been already...

    Route is a planned future course...usually made up of 2 or more waypoints in succession...

    A lot of Doug's stuff may pertain to HB specific...but several of his videos are of general GPS understanding...

    Thanks Rickie, If I had yours and Canepole's knowledge I wouldn't have to ask dumb questions. I sure like DI. It makes interpretations easer. I lost bottom once yesterday. Cut off unit and cut back on and never had the problem again. This happened when I moved and I may not have switched transducers when I pulled TM transducer out of water, or it could have been a setting. Thanks for the help!!!..... Jim

    There are no dumb questions...we all want to learn more...

    I've read several forums indicating that units sometimes have difficulty picking up bottom after raising the Xducer out of the water and leaving the unit running...

    While it shouldn't hurt the unit let the unit run while the Xducer is out of the water...the best answers I've seen so far is to just put the sonar on standby until the Xducer is back into the water...

    I'm not familiar with this setting in the Lowrance but I'm sure it's just 1 or 2 button pushes...

    Mine will also lose bottom if left out of the water. I'll try to find the standby this weekend. Thanks for the idea.

    NetMan75, Stanby is on when you push the power button also brightness, power-off, etc.. Just push it and release, if you hold it past 3 seconds it will turn off the unit

    Standyby will also run your battery down too!!!!!!there is a warning of this in the manual!!!!
