Thread: elite 7

Castle, Just received my Elite 7 this morning. Iwill be installing it Monday or Tuesday. Looking forward to checking it out on the water. I ordered the sun screen protector and tm mount also. I have a great HDS 7 Gen 2 that I will be selling after installing the new unit. I will send you a pm when I learn something, Hope you like the new toy..... Jim

Sam , If it is like my HDS 7 Gen 2. That thing is capable of doing things I am not capable of making it do. I was still learning about it everytime I took it out on the water.I will share any of the limited knowledge that I am able to learn. Maybe we can learn together. Thanks, keep me posted......Jim

I got mine thursday and installed it on a Ram Mount which helps with access and vibration. I used it a little bit yesterday. As with the old Humminbird, I have alot to learn and some tweeking to do. I like it so far and the mapping with the Gold is nice. Why are you getting rid of the HDS 7 Gen 2? I am in the market for that unit with the structure scan for the rear of my boat. If I figure out any good info on the Elite HDI, I will pass it along. Thanks

Hi Jiggin One, I am getting rid of thr HDS 7 Gen 2 because I want down scan. I could have installed LSS-2 but would have had to bought a cutoff switch. drilled new holes, ran new wires plus the cost of the Structure Scan. I would only have gained SI. I had seen and heard a lot about the Elite 7 HDI. and figured I would get more from DI than SI. As far as the HDS 7 Gen2, it is only a year old and works perfect. It would work great with Structure Scan. I still have not been able to reap all of the benefits of using this unit due too lack of learning curve. One good thing is there's not a ton of settings to worry about. I keep my down imaging on my elite 7 set on general fishing, contrast at 60, auto depth control, blue color, and split zoom. that's just what works best for me. I fish mostly in stained water anywhere from 5 to 35 feet. Hope this helps.

there is some pretty good videos on youtube that ive got some good info from i havent hit the water with the unit yet though....
