    Default HB597 install issues??????????

We installed one this morning (Hookedonslabs unit). Everything seemed to work for about 5 minutes. When checking out settings, I opened the "wrench tab", the unit locked up. It displayed wide and narrow vertical lines.

Had to remove power from unit to restart. Now, on startup, after "loading", the first select pages appears. Whatever you select here (simulator, normal, etc) the unit immediately locks up. Vertical lines.

    Any clues?

If a brand new unit, I would call Humminbird. It could be one of the plugs isn't seated well, but I'd guess you have checked all the "KISS" things that can go wrong......bent pins, loose connection at battery, ground

New unit. 12.2 volts at the power pin connector, but that is a NO LOAD reading. Pins looked fine.

i dont have a clue to whats making your unit do that.ive never had mine to do anything like that and ive had it for awhile now. good luck with it.when you get it working properly you will be pleased with how it works.

The same thing happened to me. I was pushing buttons when all of a sudden the screen loaded up crazy vertical lines and locked up. Had to pull the unit from it's base and start over. No problems since then.

I don't know. It locks on startup, so I can't display the rev no.

If the unit is locking up on startup...and will not even allow the unit to be forced to the "System Status" screen....then (I'd guess) it's time to take it back to BPS and see if they'll just give him another one...

I agree. Maybe Greg will have a "magic pill" for me.

Tom ...did you try a different battery or power source to eliminate the possibility of just a weak battery...??
