Structure scan?????
i HAVE ASKED THESE QUESTIONS BEFORE AND I AM STILL CONFUSED. i THINK I WANT A LOWRANCE ELITE 7 HDI.I HAVE A HDS GEN 2. I BOUGHT THIS UNIT 3-3-2012 THINKING I WOULD ADD STRUCTURE SCAN TO IT LATER. I AM NOW WONDERING, IS IT WORTH THE ADDITIONAL COST ( UNIT ABOUT 550,TROLLING MOTOR BRACKET ABOUT 190, ADDITIONAL WIRERING AND INSTALLATIOn ????) TO GAIN SIDE SCAN. I CAN GET DOWN SCAN BY GOING TO THE ELITE 7, AND GET A LARGER SCREEN.
QUES#1....WILL I GET ANYTHING ON THE TROLLING MOTOR SETTING STILL OR DO I HAVE TO MOVE AT A REASONABLE SPEED ?
QUES.#2....WILL I BE ABLE TO USE THE TRANSDUCER LOCATED ON THE TRANSOME AND MY SWITCH TO CHANGE BACKWARDS AND FORWARD. SOME ONE WITH THE NEW UNIT, I WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENTS AND PERSPECTATIVE ON THE ELITE 7. SORRY FOR BEING REPETATIVE BUT THERE IS NOT THAT MUCH INFO. ON THE WEB OUT THERE. YOU GUYS ARE ELECTRONIC WIZARDS....THANKS AGAIN.....

Ques#1. Do you get DS on the trolling motor sitting still. It takes a little time or experience to know how to read that data.
If you had LSS transducers on the transom and TM, there's no switch you'd have to unplug one and plug in the other. You can view the output from the LSS unit on multiple HDS units using ethernet.
I Still haven't been on the water with my Elite-7, but all of the images I'm seeing from users make me believe it's a winner.
There really isn't a wrong answer, you just need to pick what is best for you.

FYI....$150 rebate on the LSS-2 transducer from Lowrance right now. Billy
