That's too bad. They were a great wintertime learning tool.

I learned how to use mine by hooking it up to a 12 volt power supply in the comfort of my shop.

Did the same, here in my apt. 12V portable jumper battery !!

Lowrance still has emulators, but just not for all available products : Product Emulators - LOWRANCE | Marine Electronics

I used the emulator for the Elite 5 series of units, back when they had it ... but it contained menu & capability items that my Elite 5DSI unit did not have. Realizing that it was an "all in one" deal, I deleted the emulator & went to using the jumper battery ... just so I'd know exactly what my particular unit was (& was not) capable of doing.

I also went on Lowrance's site & printed off a copy of the E5DSI Operations Manual, as the little booklet that came with the unit was basically useless for anything besides mounting instructions.

    Thanks Crappiepappy. Your the man.
That was the route I was going to take also. After looking around for a power cable I decided not to spend that much money to practice.
Also, it takes a ton of work to pull the power cable from my boat. I'm trying to find an emulator close to my HDS5.

Someone on this board must have enough pull with Lowrance to get some new emulators up and running.

CP, how did you hook your Elite 5 to a portable battery? Did you buy an extra power cable? If so where & how much? Or can you just hook power directly to the pins? I would love to be able to play with my unit in the house, since my boat us stored in an unheated structure about 3 mi away from my house. Thanks,WW.

Like I said, I use mine with a 12 volt power supply. Made two small cables with small alligator clips, it's cheap.

Lowrance doesn't spend much money on user manuals or teaching software. It's pretty much figure it out yourself.
