Thread: IMPORTANT: Humminbird 6.57 software

While the OP makes it clear the SI scroll speed was not intended the 6.57 SW produces just as good SI images as 6.49.

Yes SI screen is faster with 6.57. We are all used to setting scroll speed at boat speed as a rule of thumb, with 6.57 just set it 1-2 less than boat speed. I thought 2D performance was much better locking on bottom in challenging shallow water condition with 6.57 than 6.49/6.42.


Bottom half of first snapshot (V6.57)is same location as top of snap shot below (V6.49).

Yea I read about the fix. I have to say though I like the faster scroll seems more real time to me even when set to 1 0r 2 below boat speed. Images were jsut as good and better at higher speeds, see my post on page 1 of this thread.

kyrich...you may be able to find your previous version here (if you know what the number is)...

Be sure to NOT revert to an older version than what came on the unit....(I have heard this can cause bad bad things to happen)...

If you can’t get the older software for your 788 unit from the other web site, just send me an email asking for it and I will see what I can do. I will need to know the specific model number though (788c, 788ci, 788ci HD, 788ci HD DI).

my 798 ci hd si has version 6.25. should i get it updated???????? will it show better quaility pics and images with newer update???????? thx, rick

There was nothing in the release notes about changing the Si sonar, so I wouldn’t update it just yet unless you also have the 360 Imaging or iPilot Link.
