    Default HB map card

Didn't get any input on main forum, so ill try here...
Any opinions on which map cards would best suit me for my998? Looking at the LakeMaster TX/OK. It has three of the lakes I fish most often, omits one that I fish quite a bit. The most appealing part is the adjustment/offset for actual lake depth. The depth highlight and shallow water setting are also very nice. Any opinions on other cards that may be better? I fish SE Oklahoma predominately...

I've got the LakeMaster TX/OK and I think it is very good but have not had any experience with the other. I flipped a coin when I bought mine and I feel like I won.

if lakemaster doesn't cover all the lakes then go with navionics, you humminbird allows you to hightlight depth ranges on the navionics card too.

I sure like what I've seen of it. Wish it had more Oklahoma lakes, but it has the lake I fish 70% of the time. I heard there is a new version coming out this month, so I'm trying to hold off long enough to make sure they haven't added any lakes I fish in the new version.

    Default HB map card

I have the navionics card, no complaints here. If I remember you can do the water depth offset on the HB, however I could be wrong. We went to Ft Gibson the other day, I was surprised at the accuracy that I was getting. With some of our low lake levels I think anything is better than nothing!

You could go to custom search and type in lakemaster vs navionics and learn a whole lot about it probably

The Navionics cards have the Shaded Depth feature that will work with them but not the additional LakeMaster only features (Depth Colors, Depth Highlight, Depth Highlight Range, and Water Level Offset).

Contact LakeMaster and see if they will tell you what will be added in the new map card.

Do thee cards slow the unit down much? Would it be a big deal to use one card at console when running around and switch the card to the 858 on bow when fishing? Do you have to turn the unit off when installing/removing map card. Thanks. I've never had a map card, so trying to make sure I'll be proud of it after I spend the $125. Thanks guys.

I would definitely turn the unit off when removing or inserting card, just make sure you don't drop it in the lake. I use the Navionics Hotmaps south card in my HBSI unit and it's preferred in my opinion. I did alot of research and Navionics south had all the lakes i fish and then some. Some lakes are already contoured in detail on the map program that comes stock with HB units, that's my 2 cents
