Thread: 898??

Ive got two. I love being able to see items of interest 80 feet away from me while I'm in 3 or 4 foot of water. Really nice thing on those warmer days in the winter when the fishes move up shallow.

If you wait a month or so, they will come out with a better screen that is more viewable in sunlight. Sometimes you have to mess around with it to get a good view in sunlight or use a raptor cap.
Not really a dislike, but sometimes with my eyes starting to fail me, I wish I'd went ahead and bought at least one with a bigger screen.

i had a bit of a problem, but it could have been partly on my end, which after 13,000 replys we got figured out lol

i have had two now for about a year and half, really like them, i do wish i had a bigger screen though but they serve the purpose very well, the bigger screen would aid in long distance side imaging, i run mine at 100' to either side most of the time and it works well. the 998's are on sale now for less than what a 898 regularly costs so that would be the route i took if i was buying right now.

I am wanting the new screen.

i really don't know if the new screen is worth the price difference or not, i fish year round and what i have is fine, could it be better yes, but i can see it well enough. i mean a 998 for 1300 right now or wait for a new one with a "better screen" for 1900. thats assuming the price doesn't go up with the new screen. maybe i'm just tight

I run a 898 and love it!!!! I do wish it was easier to see on those bright sunny days and I may get a Raptor Cap for it in the future but its fine for now. When I upgrade to a newer boat in the next couple years I will likely put it up front and buy a 998 or 1198 for the console.

Bottom line: great unit
