    Default HDS10 Gen 2 w/Structure scan - NO SOURCE

Has anyone had trouble with their HDS units displaying "No Source" on the structure screens? My will stop working and say "No Source" and then start working again. It has usually only happend once maybe twice a trip. Today it did it a lot. Sometimes it would work fine and then it would start and stop, start and stop, start and stop (some of the stops will last for 10 minutes or longer) and then it work work fine again for awhile. The 2D works the entire time. Seems to be something with the structure scan. Has anyone seen this?

How is it powered? If you're waking it with the yellow wire from the 10 check the conection.

I've got an HDS 8 G1, and never had any issues like that, but my SS is wired to be "on" all the time, or when the unit is "on".
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Rip a Lip from Ms had the same problem and it was the Ethernet cable coming from the box, you might wanna change that. Heres the link.

Thanks Wilbur, that should be an easy fix. I'll have to give it a try.

I'm having the same problem with my LSS1. I think mines the cable too. I can twist the cable at the connector and it comes on. I just have to take the time to get a new cable. It was bad right out of the box.

Navico had their head up their butts when they mad a Ethernet cable from solid conductor wire. It works just fine on yachts and ocean liners, but for us folks who have to remove or stuff to prevent theft, well their head is still up their butt.

The etherent cables are quite often the culprit. Your first check on a "No Source" signal should be power to the LSS box and a check of the LED indicators and where or if the yellow (wake up) wire is connected. Then move the ethernet cables from one port to another. It will usually help isolate a bad cable or a bad port on the module.
