nav card

anybody have problem with unit not reading navionics card?
Tried it on the 788 and 597 today and neither would pull it up--the unit just reverted to Auto mode and the unimaps?
I keep the card locked so that it can't get messed up. Am I missing something?

Yes, when I picked my boat up Monday, they put 2 new cards in my 597 and could not get them to read. Finally he took the navonics card out of his personal boat and put it in my 597 and it worked fine.

hmm--the data on mine was june 2011. I just updated my card so we will see if that will work
can't fish without it

will play with it tomorrow in the yard. Man I was not happy today--although the way the water was i couldn't have stayed on the contour anyway. Two drift socks and still couldn't get below .4--I need a couple of 80 inchers

KDAVID1, is this one of the Navionics map cards that you downloaded an update to? If so, you may want to try updating it again as we have seen problems with these types of Navionics cards when they get updated. Something does not go 100% right but updating them again seems to fix them.

If this is not the case I would try the map card in another Humminbird unit and try a different Navionics map card in your units.

hmmm--actually I had never updated the card since I got in earlier in the year. I tried the card in the 788 in both slots and neither would pic it up. I then tried it in my 597 and the same thing. I did update the card that evening--haven't had the chance to try it but if it doesn't work I will update it again and see what we get. It is the navionics hotmaps premium card---my fingers are crossed--paid 75 bucks to get the updates i'd hate to pay another 150 to get a new card--it did work when I first got it.

When I plugged my card in my 788ci it didnt read it figured I screwed it up ,but I kept looking on my unit and when you scroll through the menus its on a page after the factory unimaps.After the 1st time it comes up by itself everytime now GL.

Thanks---I just updated it again and took the 597 and 788 and plugged it in both in the yard. not sure if it worked or not since im not on a lake but everything seems proper--on the 788 I picked the card slot I had it in but from what I understand Auto should pull it up if it is in. Guess I'll have to wait until I hit the lake again.

You don’t have to wait to hit the lake again to check it out (unless you just need a reason to go fishing!). Just start the unit up and when it finds the satellites and starts showing the Chart View; zoom out and use the cursor controls to go to a lake that is covered by the mapping card to see if there is any added detail. You can also do the same thing if the unit is running in the Simulator mode like in a store’s show room.
