    Default I bit the bullet....

Well, after much deliberation I have bit the bullet and bought a Terrova 55 with i-pilot. I bought the 55 since my boat is only a 16 ft flat bottom but, I will take my 2 batteries that were used for my 24 volt T.M. and wire them so that I can have a "spare" in the boat for the long days. I'm excited as a kid on Christmas waitin on my new T. M. after reading all the high praises you guys have been reporting on this motor. I can't wait to record a trolling track and then "let er roll" and not have to man the T.M. every second of the route.

You are going to enjoy that. I do not know what size batteries you have but I go 10 hrs heavy use on my 55lb riptide sp with a 29 Walmart DC battery.

You won't need the 2nd battery, just sayin'
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

I think I'd just wire those batteries parallel and go fish all day. Congrats, you're gonna love it!

That's exactly what I would do so you will extend your fishing time and not have to fool with switching them up in the middle of a day of fishing. I put an 80 on my boat last winter and it has changed the way I fish more than I ever could have imagined. I don't care for the foot pedal at all but prefer the stow/deploy mechanism over the PD2. Good choice!

I agree with both this and Rip a Lip. The pd v2 deploy will give me fits when my mobility goes downhill in years to come. And when I wired my 2 batteries in parallel I kissed my power problems goodbye. Trolled all day in the wind and still had power to go.

A parallel connection is fine until one of the batteries becomes weaker than the other. Then, the strong battery's energy "pours over" into the weak battery instead of going to your TM. If you run one battery at a time, you get everything each battery has.

I agree with corker, if I was going to have 2 batteries for 12V TM I'd wire them to battery selector switch and get the best of both worlds.
