I've tried those USB to serial cables and it seems they will work with some things, but not others. If I remember right, it worked transferring pictures, but not GPS waypoints. My old Garmin unit used a serial port cable for transferring data.

Mine does too Ron. Garmin GPS 76. I finally received a cable that works usb to serial and vice verse. I probably want get much done until after Turkey day. I did a little debugging and I am able to capture and pick out the data I need from the GPS 76 NMEA output. This is/was a major deal. Now I just have to figure out how to manage this data. Lots better than working cross word puzzles on a crap day.
