My first guess would be low voltage. Is it locking when you start big motor?

Check the electrical connections between your 1198c Si unit and the starting battery. I recommend that it be connected with its own set of wires. Some copper multi-stranded 14 gauge wire with a 3-Amp fuse (blade type, not the glass one) will help in ensuring that your big 1198 unit gets the power it needs to operate properly.

You also need to get the battery load tested to know that it is up to par.

Greg, yes that is the way i set it up to begin with. It has been operating this way since March 2012 with no problems. Big motor running has 14.3 volts and with out the motor running 11.8 to 12.3 volts. I will go home tonight and check all wires agian before i ship it to the service dept. Talked to a lady today and she said i must send it to the service dept to be looked at.

I had the same problem when I used the Boats stock wiring. I ran my own 12ga. from the bat. good to go now. The unit has a volts readout on it ,what does it say?

wilbur, i came home this evening and powered the unit up one more time. It said in the volt box to the lower right hand side, 12.1 volts? My wiring is just like Greg has listed in the suggestion earlier?
