But im still going to stay with lowrance its only going to get better.

Have you tried raising your motor up some/enough to get the motor out of the way. I have the LLS 1 and don't have that problem on my tracker with a 60, but I know the LSS 2 is bigger.

Touch screen maybe, but an all in one unit this soon, probably not is my guess. I don't have any problems with my HDS 8 except it does take some time to figure how to get it to do what you want, but still learning. And half of what I've learned how to do was by accident so it really taxes my peabrain in trying to duplicate that function on the next trip.

Personally, I'm surprised this technology hasn't been introduced into the depthfinder market before now I mean, how long has the computer & cell phone systems had this capability ?? DF's are basically in the same category (now) !!

I'm just wondering how long it will be before they come up with a depth finder REMOTE CONTROL

Touch screen has been available in Garmin and Furino upper scale units for some time. Big bucks!

i think ,the way to go is for them to make there units all in one. one complete unit and one transducer.oops...... if they do that then they would have to call them humminbird they should atleast offer a smaller transducer. as far as a touch screen ,i dont see were thats going to help things

Then the down scan would suck .

Two boxes are not a problem for me, I can run three HDS units off one LSS-1

Well, if it works like an Iphone or Ipad screen it's not going to work with gloves on.

Their sister company Simrad has the touch screen now so it will either be a lower quality of that or they are really going to trick out the next gen of simrad. Should be bad azz either way. Can't wait to see them in action.

I've seen the Simrad units with touch screens in high-end saltwater applications in enclosed cabins and I think they would be amazing if you had them with a serious sun shield and were in no danger of getting water, slime, etc on the face itself without Lowrance putting even more expensive coatings on the unit. Any type of smear/smudge on a touch screen gets amplified in the sunlight but in the glare you have a hard time seeing what is actually on the display. I'm all for the combined units but you can leave the touch screen in the development lab until the companies that make the anti-glare protection on them make some serious advances. I won't use a stylus on the screen because it will either get lost or will punch through the display while trying to do something while driving in choppy water. Gloves and touchscreeens haven't mixed thus far because of the large area the glove creates on the screen. I guess we'll just have to wait until monday...
