    Default Sharing waypoints?

I was told that to share waypoints from my 997 with my new 958 di that i would have to have a internet connection. Can i download the points (export data) from my 997 to a mmc card then place it in my 958 di to download? Will the 997 still have all the waypoints or do i have to put them back in after i download them into the 958 di? Plan on hooking them toghether at a later date. Not sure i made this clear but someone will figure out what the @#$ i am talking about. Hopefully! Lol

Maybe someone misquoted the "Internet" connection with "Ethernet" connection...

HB Ethernet is a single cable (and software) connection between 2 HB units thats allows the units to share "like" features..

Both units have to be ethernet compatable and running Ethernet suitable software...

Each unit can only share data that is capable to be utilized in the other unit...(an SI unit's SI//DI data can only be seen on another SI unit, a DI unit's DI data can only be seen on another DI unit..etc..)

Ethernet basically allows each unit to "see" the other unit's information...(it doesn't actually transfer physical waypoint data into the other unit like the "Interlink" does..)....

Your other question... "Exporting Waypoint Data" does not delete the Nav data from the residing unit's internal memory.... It merely copies the Nav data to an inserted SD card....

Then you can use that copy of Nav data on the SD card to load into the other unit's internal memory....

"Delete All Nav Data" is a completely different button pushing sequence than "Export All Nav Data"....

Thanks. I meant " interlink not internet" i was told that the the 997si was not compatible with the new 958di and i would have to us "interlink" not the "ethernet connection"

Oops... I missed that you had a 997...

Here is info on HB ethernet..
    Humminbird Ethernet Overview

I don't think the 997 is Ethernet compatable...

I think they can be Interlinked...

They can be InterLinked but you will have to watch what software versions you are running in each unit to do so. They need to be running the same level of software but not the same actual software number… They both need to be running the same starting number for the software version. Example: 997c Si running 6.300 and 958c DI running 6.420. Both are running a six level of software.

I think that you should be able to exoprt data to sd card and plug into the 858 with no problem. Its just overlay data and it will stay on both.

Thanks, both are running level 6 plus software. Just need to get interlink now. Just don't have time before the classic.
