I was having the same problem with the 798 I had on the bow. I now have a 788ci HD DI there. I installed the choke that humminbird provided & also bought a cheap, small inner tube. I cut the tube long enough to wrap around the TM housing then split it down the middle. I then clamped the transducer mount around that. Cleaned mine up. I also have my electronics hooked to their own battery.
