    Default Terrova skeg question

TODAY I WAS installing a terrova 80# tm. i noticed that the skeg is not inline with the shaft. the base of the skeg is about 1/4" off center, which puts the bottom of the skeg about 1" off center. is this normal?

Is it a new unit? If you bought it used, someone has been inside the motor. If it's new MinnKota will take care of it. If used you need to find out why someone went inside. Good luck.

Need to return it to place of purchase, if possible, and exchange it. Call MinnKota.

CALLED customer support at minn kota and they stated that i could bring it to a warranty center, but that i could also take a rubber mallet and try to hit it back into position since it is a three piece housing on the foot and that they are not threaded.

The motor has 2 bolts that hold it together. If you decide to fix it yourself, loosen the bolts slightly and rotate it gently into position. The motor has O rings to keep water out. Just go easy. Good luck.
