    Default 798----1198 ethernet?

Got a buddy wanting to add a new 1198 with his 798. He wants to get rid of the 798 transducer and run them both off the 1198 transducer that will come with the unit. I dont have a clue as I run an 858di and 898 with interlink. He is a cat guy and want will be mounting both off the transom for drift fishing. Wants to have the SI running on one and the DI on the other? Is this even possible with ethernet? If so what cables/splitters will he need. Wants me to help install. To me it would be lots simpler to just run both transducers but oh well.

I had a 788ciHD & a 898cHD. I used an Ethernet cable and tied them together. I used the HDSI(big transducer) that came with the 898 for both units. You go to the Networking Tab at the top of the screen to select which TD you want each unit to use.

    I hope I haven't confused matters.

If he has a 798ci HD Si model unit than all you have to do is connect them via the Ethernet cable as DonG stated; otherwise it is not possible. To connect these two with the Ethernet cable, you will need:
    - An Ethernet Connection Cable. There are a variety of sizes so the part number will differ with the length of the cable AS-ECXXE (where “XX” equals the cable length).
    Accessories » Ethernet Cables

    - An AS-EC-QDE Ethernet Adapter Cable. This cable is needed to connect a 700 series unit to an Ethernet Connection Cable.
