    Agreed, either way, get a Ram mount. I don't care what it is, if there's glass, there will be glare to some extent under the right conditions.

    it should also make the older screen models go on sale, the si and di in direct sunlight with no shade cover can be a bit hard to see though the 2d isn't, a raptor cap helps as does adjusting the angle of the unit.

    I had some reflection problems with my Lowrance Elite 5 DSI. Is the 898 worse that the Lowrance?

    The changes they made, which will become available at the first of the year, will make them very similar. As of right now and older units, the 898's will be a problem in sun.

    I haven't used that Lowrance model. I just wanted to say that I currently own two 898's and will not be upgrading to the new units. With my raptor caps and ram mounts, I am able to manage with these. But, if I was in the market for new units and knew that a better screen was coming in a few months, then I would wait.
