Default Lowrance LCX 28c hd question

Question for the experts...putting together a new boat. But trying to stay on a budget. I have the chance to buy a LCX 28c hd for $550. Had a hds 7 with structure scan on last boat, and never was that impressed with structure scan, so I'm not going to put it on this boat. Just color sonar and gps. Is this particular unit a good deal? It's new in box, or should I spend the extra on a hds 7 without ss. Any info appreciated. I'm not familiar at with it. Thanks.

I use to have the LCX27 which I believe is the same unit except the 28 has a hard drive in it. I really liked mine. If that price includes the transducer and GPS antenna then that is a good price for it.

Yep. What Bill said. I still have my LCX27. Works fine. However, both (27&28) are discontinued and you probably would not be able to get it repaired. Call Lowrance first.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the info. Now I just need to find a color sonar for up front. The joys of rigging a boat. Almost as fun as fishing! I guess that's why I keep rigging them out, then selling them and starting over.
