Ever see one of these babies before? I haven't and didn't even get a hit when I Googled it. It appears to be some sort of (antiquated) color-selector for lures. I think it's kinda neat; do any of you have any insight/knowledge on this instrument? Thanks, Kenny

I believe it is a water temp meter. Lowrance made one similar call the Fish and Temp (I believe). 70s-80s stuff.

I was gonna guess it was some kind of light meter. You could tell by putting probe in a area wit low light take a reading then move into more light. Might send it to CP and let him diagnose it and what ever it's supposed do it will do better when he is throughRofl

Okay, from what I can tell so far, is it is basically the same type instrument as a 'Fenwick- Color C-Lector'. It tells you what colors are most visible for a given depth, water clarity, and conditions at that given time. It a well made unit and I have a hunch it probably works fine. It could be really handy for Crappie fishing I would think. I'm going to try it out to see how it works. Kenny

I don't remember any old color selector that ever only showed temp. They usually had color rings and water clarity, but what do I know.
The old Lowrance was used to find thermoclines.

You are exactly right Cane Pole! I looked at it closer tonight (it's my brother in laws) and determined the same thing. It shows you the water temp at various depths from 5-40 ft...in 5 ft. increments. Where I got confused is the color matrix on the face of the meter. I didn't realize it corresponded to colored markings on the drop line letting you know what depth you were at(duh..lol). Many of the colors had faded over time so I remarked it for the heck of it. I put in a 9v battery and it works fine. My B.I.L. told me his father purchased it when he retired and moved to Toledo Bend Lake in 1984 to spend his days fishing, so he inherited it a few yrs. later when his dad passed away and had never used it. I don't know how useful a gadget it is, but i'm going to play with it a little anyway. Thanks for the replies guys! Kenny
