What depthfibnder do you have? The unit of measure (feet/meters) should be in the set up or sonar menu. On my lowrances the map card has nothing to to do with the unit of measure. They will read to what they are set to regardless of the mapping selected.

I honestly don't know how the birds are set up, on my Lowrance I have to go into the chart menu and select navionics as the mapping source. Hopefully one of the bird guys will pop in.

    With the unit powered on...

Insert the map card... There should be a popup window at the top of the screen that says... "Loading Maps"....

Next...Go into the "System Status" view....at the bottom right of the "System Status" screen it should say if it is reading the Navionics card...

OK got to try the navionics out this morning. Its loaded but my boat location and depth reading dont seem to be right.I messed with it some and I can be in 30 fow and it reads 20ft on ff and it looks like im not in the place that my map shows my at.Im not off much but the contour might show me in 40 or 50 fow and ff reads 28 ft.is my bird acting up because of the map card?

I wouldn't put too much stock in the depth "spot soundings" on the map card...

I have found the contour lines to be fairly accurate as in where the contour line is on the lake bottom compared to where that same contour line shows on the map...

But the depth "spot soundings" on my Premium East card for my home lake (KY lake) can be off 10ft (in actual depth) or more...

The HB Combo units do have a "Map Offset" setting that can be used to adjust the map....(I forget exactly where it is in the menu system)...

One other point... I have heard of map issues happening when the maximun number of "track point" has been surpassed...

All HB software versions (up to the newest I think) recorded "track points" with no way to turn them off...
These tracks should be cleared in the Navigation Menu often to eliminate the possibility of surpassing the track point memory maximun and causing the map overlay to show you not where you really are... (I clear my track data at the end of every fishing trip right before I power down the unit for the day....and more often than that if I fish for many hours)...

the birds automatically start deleting the oldest tracks once the memory is full, a warning will appear on the screen just before this occurs. have not had this affect the accuracy of my location on my map cards at all, i love mine and the accuracy is very very impressive and is spot on with the depth finder readings, though i have the external antenna also.
