    Default 998 Sonar Setting Help

I have a 998c SI Combo unit and not sure which transductor came with it. I guess the standard one but not sure.

Under the Transductor Select tab, I have 7 options Hi Def sidescan ,Compact sidescan, sidescan ,Quad Beam, Duel Beam, Duel 50/200 and Universal Sonar 2. I'm confuessed as to what setting(s) I should be using and what is the differences is between these setting.

Another question I have is under the Beam Select tab I have 3 options 200/83 HZ, 200 KHZ and 83 KHZ. Not sure which setting I should be using and the differences between them. Any and all help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for you time and knowledge

for a 998 use Transducer select tab labeled --HI Def sidescan as that is the ducer that came standard with a 998

This should be the xducer that came with the 998c SI Combo...It should be printed on the xducer cable about a foot up from the xducer itself...

Like Jax said... The xducer setting is "Hi Def Sidescan"...

Your 998 has 2 separate 2d sonar beam frequencies...
    83kHz 60degree cone
    200kHz 20 degree cone

The unit can be set to either beam separately (83kHz or 200kHz) or a "blend" of the 2 beams together (83kHz/200kHz)...

I usually have my 1197 set to the "blended" 83kHz/200kHz... This will give the greatest detail of structure in the 200KHz 20degree beam.... Plus... It will still pick up fish returns in the wider 83kHz 60 degree cone...

Get a SD card for the unit and post up some snapshots from your HB use...

    We like snapshots...
