Lowrace HDS question
just got my HDS8 hooked up and running and on the first trip out, after running 15-20 mins, the screen went into what i would call a "sleep mode". the only way i could correct the issue was to turn the unit off and back on. my question is: is this normal or do i have some setting wrong? posted this in the arkansas forum and got some good thoughts but wanted to spread it around a little more to see what else i could find.

Was your battery fully charged?Mine went black at the end of a long day and battery was low.Turned off and back on and it was fine.

You may have had put it into a low back light mode without realizing it. It might have been on, but the screen was set to a mode that does not blind you at night. It's easy to do accidently if you hit the wrong buttons.

My HDS8 does thsi after a long day of fishing and the battery is getting low. It looks like it goes into an energy saving mode and the screen is harldly visible. Turn it off and On and it works fine. I have had mine do this 5 or 6 times.Originally Posted by kingfish387

mine did that a couple times, never did figure out why, I would go to the brightness screen and it would be on 3 adj to max. did this twice in a couple weeks, about well long time ago, no problems since... beats me,,,just wanted you to know your not alone.... hope you get it fixed ....luck to ya/
