I think I have a spare TM bracket somewhere from an old minnkota I junked out. I think I have a dowel rod about the size of a TM shaft so I guess I'll give that a try. Now I just gotta figure out what kinda cheapo unit to buy.

You might want to check the clasifieds on here. You can pick up a really nice unit for half or less the cost of a new one. Guys like to upgrade, matter of fact I got a HB LCR400 sitting in my shop that came off my boat. Not a thing wrong with it I just wanted a combo color unit. I keep thinking I might get a pond boat and stick it on there, which is why I have not tried to sell it.

Walmart sells a nice little HB unit that clamps on gunnel (sp) has unit and transducer all in one. Really nice unit for the price.

I think I've about talked my wallet into the Lowrance Elite 4x DSI. Seems like alot of bang for the buck and a small package. Got the dowel rod and TM bracket put together, just gotta wait till I fab my transom riser and see if there will be enough room to set it beside the motor. I may have to go with a C-clamp method.
